Zaferia, founded in 1913 is a neighborhood in the eastern part of Long Beach, California. It was founded as a small town and sits on what was once the railway track that connected Downtown Los Angeles to Newport Beach.

Zaferia has a long history of being a center of commerce, and its independence from the city of Long Beach gave the town a great advantage in the early 1900s – it could sell alcohol.

People would flock to the area from all over, for a fun day out. On Labor Day of 1920, Zaferia gave up its name and became East Long Beach, however today, you can still find traces of what Zaferia once looked like as the bustling entrepreneurial spirit has never left.
